How We Built YKC Legal's Digital Presence: A Pakistan Law Firm Case Study

YKC Legal has been practising law in Pakistan since 1950. Three generations of advocates. Decades of cases across criminal, civil, family, corporate, and constitutional law. A reputation earned entirely in courtrooms, through referrals, through results. And until Two Bit Digital got involved — zero digital presence. No website. No Google ranking. No way for anyone who did not already know them to find them. This is the story of what we built and what happened when it went live.

The Brief

The firm needed a complete digital presence — not a brochure site with a phone number, but a working system. Something that would put them on Google, allow clients to understand the full scope of their practice, and begin the process of digitising how the firm interacts with clients. The instruction was clear: build something that reflects the calibre of a firm with 75 years of history, not something that looks like a template bought for a few thousand rupees.

What We Built

  • 17 practice area pages — each one a standalone SEO target, written for the client searching that specific type of lawyer in Pakistan. Criminal law, family law, corporate law, property, immigration, and 12 others.
  • Client portal with case diary — a secure login area where clients track their matter, see upcoming hearings, access filed documents, and communicate with the firm. Replaces the WhatsApp and phone chasing that both clients and fee earners find exhausting.
  • Online consultation booking — clients book directly from the website. They choose a time, confirm, and receive a structured confirmation. No back-and-forth. No missed messages.
  • Judgements library — a searchable repository of relevant case law and precedents. Positions the firm as an authority the moment a potential client lands on the site.
  • Case search — advocates, clients, and the public can search the firm's case history by type, jurisdiction, and outcome.
  • Full team profiles — every advocate with their qualifications, practice areas, years of experience, and approach. Builds trust before anyone has made contact.
  • Bilingual content — the site operates in English and Urdu, with correct right-to-left Urdu typography throughout.

The Technical Foundation

The site is built on Next.js 14 with TypeScript and deployed on Vercel's edge network. Every page is statically generated — meaning it loads in milliseconds regardless of where in Pakistan the visitor is connecting from. The database layer uses PostgreSQL with row-level security enforced at the database level, not just the application level — meaning even if the application code had a bug, client data would remain isolated. The client portal authentication uses a session-based system with secure httpOnly cookies. Every document in the portal is stored with access controls verifying the user's identity before serving the file.

The SEO Architecture

Technical SEO was built into the architecture from day one, not retrofitted after launch. Every practice area page has a unique, descriptive URL, a hand-written meta title and description, structured schema markup declaring it as a LegalService with the firm as the provider, and a canonical URL. The sitemap was submitted to Google Search Console and Bing Webmaster Tools on launch day. The internal linking structure — practice area pages linking to team profiles, team profiles linking to case studies, the judgements library linking to practice areas — signals to Google the topical depth of the site.

What This Means for Pakistani Law Firms

YKC Legal is not a special case. The conditions that made this build successful — a firm with genuine expertise, a clear area of practice, and competition that has almost no digital presence — exist across Pakistan's legal market. Most established firms have the reputation. Almost none of them have a digital presence that matches it. The gap between where Pakistani law firms are digitally and where their clients are looking for them is significant. And it is closing faster than most firms realise.

If your law firm has the reputation but not the digital presence to match, Two Bit Digital builds exactly what YKC Legal has — a complete digital platform that works for your practice. Get in touch to discuss your firm.
